A night in the park

We strolled in to our seats at the bottom of the 3rd inning. The traffic in this town in unbelievable sometimes. John Thompson had allowed 5 hits and no runs so far, twirling himself a pretty decent game.

There aren't many feelings as good as opening day. New hopes for the upcoming season, watching the progression of young professional ball players. The energy these guys must get from a crowd is intoxicating. Every pitch, every swing turning men into heroes or goats.

The cool April air seems to make a persons gait a little lighter, makes a woman's face glow a little brighter, and causes the beer to taste just a bit sweeter. A night in the park, under the lights with 47,000 friends for just one night. It makes a life, just a little more complete.

In these moments your life seems so simple, so full of purpose. It makes all the bullshit worth it, to spend time with people that you love, enjoying company, laughing.
