Ok, I know it's a day late, but I took yesterday off. I had to get some work done on my car. I had a really nice day with the family. I got to take a nap, I mowed the lawn, went to the pool and went out to dinner with the family the perfect Sunday...except on Monday.
The wife and kids got home Friday, just as the Donkament was starting, so I donated my one buy in and had to leave. It was great to see them especially since they were supposed to be home Tuesday night. My mother in law convinced them to spend a few more days at the condo, which really isn't hard for the kids as they get to stay up late and generally get spoiled on vacation.
We caught up for a little while and everyone went to sleep. I was particularly exhausted because I couldn't force myself to get in bed before 2AM the entire week.
Saturday I drove down to my brother's house to help him move. There was a brief period of time that he was considering moving to Phoenix, but they changed their plans and bought a new house in Newnan, which feels as far as Phoenix if you ask me.
Sunday was spent cleaning the house and getting ready for my cousin to bring her kids to the house. They stopped in the ATL on the way south of the gnat line, and my wife invited them to spend the night. So we cleaned up, went to the store and invited my sister over to have a cookout. I fired up burgers and dogs and we all stuffed our faces.
Today is the 36th anniversary of my birth, but don't tell the bartender at the Crow's Nest in Norman Oklahoma please, one ass whippin' per month is plenty.
Tomorrow morning I'm heading up to NY to meet with Jordan, F-train, and hopefully a few others. Oh, and I'll be doing some work there too.

Okie Vegas - The Main Event
I was seated at the all blogger table, Tournament Director randomized all of Gary's buddies on a table with F-train and Jordan....they must have been licking their chops. No offense to Gary's friends, but they had to be out matched (except possibly Mike) by everyone else at the table.
Surf was in seat one, then Kat, George, Maudie, Me, TripJax, and Gracie. I was really glad to be in front to Trip, since I figured him to be the most aggressive player at the table.
Everyone immediately took the rebuy, and asked the chip denominations about 12 times apiece, so I chilled in the rocker with the chip cheat sheet on my face for a few minutes.
I was still feeling rough by then and intended on drinking my hangover away, but I decided to wait.
Everyone seemed to be playing a little snug (bloggers are weak/tight) and I splashed some chips around, confronting Maudie on a few occasions and taking a nice bite out of trips chips with a straight. I stayed out of big pots for the most part and picked good spots. I felt real good.
We lost oosssuuu first, and Bill second, both at the other table. I was correct in assuming Jordan and f-train would be playing a lot of pots over there.
Kat crippled Gracie and I took her out ( Where's my PEZ dispenser!!!!)
The other table lost G's buddy Jack and I was corralled to the other table. I really did not want to move, but that's how it worked out.
I moved to table to in the SB, with Mike to my left, then yestbay, f-train and jordan.
I tightened back up a bit and waited to combine tables. I had to fold a lot of hands behind f-train and Jordan, but I maintained my stack until we combined.
Maudie got blitzkrieged by a 4 flush administered by Kat back on the other table and We redrew for seats on the final table.
f-train, jordan, and I essentially stayed put. Surf got the 1 seat followed by Kat, myself, trip, mike, gcox, yestbay, f-train, and jordan
Trip was severely short stacked and went out fairly soon.
I took gary out on a flopped set and doubled up yestbay on the same hand when he rivered a higher boat. Live poker is so rigged. I would have had a nice lead after that hand.
George rode the short stack well, I managed to double him up, but he was taken out (i think by kat) next. The final okie local, Mike went out next.
Yestbay came out of his shell after that and restole a couple pots from me, I believe he was responsible for taking out f-train, but I'm not sure.
The bubble had burst. I outraced Jordan to take him out. 3 handed I was the shorty after another brutal beat that I have erased from my brain. Kat finished me up with IIRC Q6 vs my sooted Jackace.
Heads up didn't take very long as Kat played a really good headsup game, putting tons of pressure on yest. Her 2p beat him in the end.
Overall I think the tourney took a round 7 hours. G-cox's structure was a little slower than I was used to, but I liked it. It allowed for a lot of play.
And that pretty much sums it up, a good time was had by all I think.

Okie-Vegas PT DUH
So we headed out to the middle of bumfuck egypt post haste. Gary was intent on chatting it up in the car which is great, since it really helps pass the time. I got a buzz on the phone and my wife texts me a hello.
In secret wife speak it means ' call me now you shiftless sonofa beaaatch'
I called the wife and I was barely getting a signal. "Wait till the hill for better reception" Gary offers" I decline to wittily remark that there ain't no damn hills in Oklahoma.
The wife calls back and we chat for a bit. Just hearing her voice melts my heart a little bit. Then the phone gets passed to the kids and they can't talk fast enough.
DADDY DADDY DADDY!!!!....they went on and on about Silver Springs , the animals they saw and the POOL, cause you know the POOL is the best thing about vacation, never mind we have a bigger one in walking distance to the house.
So I talk to the kids a bit and feel a little bad for shutting out my car mates for a bit. I tell my wife that I'll be FURTHER out in the middle of nowhere soon and may not be reached. She presses for more info, but I was ready to get off the phone.
I tell her everything will be fine and I'll give her a call Saturday when I'm back in town.
It occurs to me shortly afterwards that she was concerned about me vanishing or getting hurt and really had no earthly idea exactly where I was going. Which is all she really wanted to know...just in case.
This brewed for a minute and I turned to Gary and asked half jokingly "So you haven't just pretended to like poker for the past few years so you could get a bunch of unsuspecting people out to the middle of nowhere and chop us up into little pieces?"
"No, that is not the case" said Gary to which I said "Would you tell me if you were?" He assured me everything was cool, and I believed him.
We finally get to the lake (which I never even saw) and G shows us the bar/diner/grocery store then parks in front of his trailer HOUSE.
The place is fantastic! A huge screened in porch, 4 bedrooms, kitchen 2 baths..this was no freaking trailer. It was the real redneck riviera!
Kat, George, Jordan and I saunter back over to the diner/grocery and order our (disgustingly cheap) food. The poor girl behind the counter said it was going to be about 30 minutes. So I made the initiative to stroll next door to check out the bar. We order our 2 dollar beer, I pay and Jordan overtips nearly the same amount as the beer...awesome. The bartender didn't know what to do with the cash, she thought we needed more quarters for the electronic dart board.
It took a few throws to get used to the plastic darts, but I showed Jordan he was simply a padwan.
We eventually made it back to the house abut an hour later and scarfed down some really great burgers...our fries were missing DOH. No biggie, there was plenty of food and I managed to snag a few curly fries from jordan to dip into my now useless chili.
We hung out for a bit longer, then decided it might be a good idea to get some poker in. We all bought in for $50 and slung some cards for an hour or two. Jordan was donating chips at a feverish pace and I gifted Gary some chips when i had a hammer/aces call on him. I guessed tails and lost...doh.
F-train, gracie, and maudie rolled in and we began chatting and drinking in earnest.
We got word that InstantTragedy was en-route and decided to get a SNG ready. Jordan tried to stack the deck so IT would suffer a horrendous beat, but somehow the cards got screwed and I ended up with big slick...
To be honest, the rest of the night is not so clear for me. I remember using the hammer (no a real hammer) at the table and drifting in and out of consciousness. I remember pushing nearly every hand, and that's about it.
I guess I'm just lucky the Lazy-Boy was close enough for me to collapse into.
I can not begin to describe how utterly miserable I felt the next morning. I wanted a shower, I wanted to puke, I wanted a blood transfusion, I wanted to lay in a cool corner in the fetal position and pray to any deity that would listen to somehow end my misery.
On the car ride home, I started my version of roving reporter and just stared asking random questions to make the time go by. Kat and gary picked it up quick and we had a great conversation/Q&A on the ride back to chez Cox.
I must say, even though I felt like wretched cold death, that was one of the best times my whole trip, just shooting the shit, talking and beginning to know my newly visible buddies.
We got back to Gary's and I attempted to eat some food. I felt so miserable that it didn't even occur to me to go to my hotel and take a shower and change. I just sat around and waited until I was told to go play cards..
Next up the Tourney and epilogue.

Okie-Vegas Pt.1
I began my journey with the intention of taking notes whenever possible. This worked out great until I actually got on the plane to Oklahoma.
I'll write up what I had noted Thursday morning and will have t0 fabricate the rest from my whiskey and beer addled brain.
10:38AM Thursday
My second beer at the ATL airport. Watching John Daily tear the course up.. he will find a way to blow up I'm sure.
I have one more hour till I leave to OKC
Time goes by
so slow
when the minutes drag (bonus points for recognizing the tune)
I have 500 bucks in my wallet and images of so much more. I want to win, I just need to put myself in position to do so.
11:01
I'm glad I got here early. I got to check in (45 minutes before boarding) and they have moved my gate..into another terminal.
If you have ever been to the ATL airport you know the place is ginourmous, and it takes awhile to get from here to there. Well I hopped on to the monorail and whisked away 2 terminals. I get to my new gate and get my seat assignment (2A SCORE). I still have 30 minutes to board.
So I get beer #3, I make it a Bud Light, y'know since I'm pacing myself.
I just want to get there already....time is fucking crawling.
And those were the last notes I took for the weekend.
I landed in OKC expecting party favors, streamers and a marching band.. .No such luck. I roamed out the terminal and I didn't see anyone. I expected to recognize Surf, but no one was there....shit.
I cruised down the ticketing counters and saw surf's back and the ponytail of who I assume is gcox. So I ninja'd my way behind them and asked casually "Anyone know where I can find a poker game around here?"
And it was on...I gave hugs all around (I'm a hugger too g-cox, its alright) and we were off to the cars.
We headed over to Maudies place and agreed that food was in order. I was anxious to try some of this famous chicken fry of theirs and hope they have greens and black-eyed peas to go with it.
As we were walking in to the place, it didn't look like much. Being from the south I take that as a good sign. In very many cases the best places to eat don't look like much from the outside.
I also noticed this older looking gentleman coming out that bared a very striking resemblance to Barry Switzer. I nearly said something to the group, but it happened too fast and I'm to weak/tight socially to a actually blurt out "Hey that looks like Barry fuckin' Switzer"
Turns out it was....doh.
I ordered the chicken fry plate with corn (no greens :( ) taters, white gravy, and a small salad.
The damn thing came out on two plates and a bowl....geez.
I very nearly scarfed the whole thing down, but I threw in the towel, or napkin as the case was.
I'm officially stuffed.
We rode back over to Maudie's and played a little SNG to get the juices flowing. I managed to take everyone out...except Maudie and offered a chop, I soon found out homie don't play that and she ran me over...
Finally after a few 'stones and an SNG everyone is ready to hit the Riverwind casino and jump in to a 1/2 no limit game. I got kicked in the junk early on (thanks george!) and had to make 2 half rebuys in the first 2 hours or so.
Time was irrelevant, like in any casino.
I got back on track by busting Gary's kings with sixes and then flopping another set on the very next hand. I was soon over 3 buy ins and adequately lubed since the waitress was loving my 2 dollar tip per beer. I swear I lost a buy in Toking the dealer and buying beer and shots...all in the name of a good time.
My highlights of the night were the set vs gary, bluffing Maudie and Gary Carson, and Rivering an Ace when I had AK vs KK. I'm pretty sure I donked half a buy in to oosssuuu too, but things are a bit fuzzy by that point.
We all cashed out and I ended up around 150 but had a great time, mixing it up with my new friends.
We hit the taco stand on the way home and totally destroyed a big bag o' tacos when we got back to Gary's house.
George and I headed back to the motel and found I got a queen bed...doh, it was too late to change so George and I cuddled till we fell asleep. (just kidding...keeping you on your toes here)
Believe it or not I didn't sleep well, over exhaustion? excitement? tacos and beer? george the snorebox? who knows, but by 7am I was ready to go, but tried to let G sleep since I knew he had a rough day driving.
Little did I know that would be the last time I'd see my room for the rest of the weekend.
We made our way over to g-cox's house and I wanted some FOOD! I coaxed trip (ok probably didn't take much coaxing) to come to Denny's with me while the others were waking up and getting ready. I also grabbed a Mac power adapter at CompUSA, (85 bucks!)..thieving bastards. But I know I'd want the laptop for Tournament Director and a movie on the way home.
Unfortunately Jordan's flight got cock blocked and we'd have to wait till 2 to pick him up. We couldn't ride jet ski's at the lake but we could certainly bust out some tunes on the karaoke, much to the horror of everyone who had to listen to me 'sing'.
end part one....next up the lake.

Dubbble Sat trouble.
Dubbble Sat trouble.
WPBT #7
I got home from 4 days of drinking and pokery goodness to an empty home. I had planned last week to meet the Family in Tampa, but the wife let me off the hook and said they were coming home early.
So what's a lonely boy to do? Make a huge plate of Nachos, flick on the tube and play some cards of course, not get some much needed rest OH NOOOO
I played a token and won fairly easily, so why not sign up for the WPBT#7. After I finally found the password (hint: more advertising might help) and found the tourney I almost decided not to play. HMM 13 players and double stack horse....whew.
Ahh fuck it, something to do during my HBO rotation. (I'm still trying to 'get' John From Cincinnati Jordan!)
So everything for the first hour and a half is fairly uneventful, I manage not to play too many cards and get a few chips. Then it began....I became a cardrack.
BEWARE! THE POST BELOW CONTAINS SOME OF THE MOST MIND NUMBING HAND HISTORIES AND ANALYSIS THAT YOU WILL EVER READ!
I'll go ahead and link everyone I can.

Sorry to take shots LJ but you kinda asked for it. I rarely, if ever, comment on anyones bad plays, 'cause I know it goes both ways. Players have reasons (excuses) to play whatever they think will win. Losing and winning to a bad beat is part of poker, and the best players know how to deal with each scenario.

Vick
I have lots to post about (I think) my brain is returning to a somewhat untoxified space, thankfully.
One thing I want to get to before OK is not OK.
Michael Vick
I'm not the biggest supporter of his before the latest clusterfuck, in fact I am somewhat neutral to him. I thought he had tons of promise, but it turns out he has a brain the size of....well you get the point.
This guy was given the keys to a franchise and hundreds of MILLIONS of dollars to simply play, I'm not sure if it even mattered if he played well. Obviously it wasn't enough, he had to 'keep it real' raising dogs to fight each other for one or two thousand dollars a pop.
Really? REALLY?
How does a man who has been blessed with legs of a gazelle and an arm full of gunpowder end up with the head of a knat?
Mr. Vick's days in ATL are finished, and I can't say I'm all to broken up about it. I think he may have been more of a distraction that benefit to the Falcons. Not that we're better without him, far from it, but at least we can move on from the spectacle and disappointment and become something to root for.
Here's to hope.

OKIE DOKIE DONKEY!
I'm waiting on my plane.... Where do I begin?
I told Gary, and I hope he knows I mean it, that this weekend was everything I had hoped to be and so much more.
The best way I can describe the feeling here is relaxed. At no point did I feel anxious or out of place amongst my newly visible internet friends. I want to thank Gary and Carrie for showing an openness and hospitality that is a rarity in this day and age.
Just try to imagine opening your home to a dozen people you have never met and not only being pleasant, but being so accommodating and open that your guests might as well have been in their own home. That is the feeling that they provided, and that is very hard to put into words. The gratitude is a hundred fold and I am anxious to return the favor if I can. I was treated, felt, and still feel like extended family in their home. I am damn proud and lucky to experience such a thing.
I'll try to post an update and more pictures later tonight or tomorrow. I'm hungry!

Hey kids, I can tell you as hard as it is for me to go a few days without playing poker, I can feel my spirits repairing themselves. I went through an absolutely awful few weeks and could do nothing right.
I don't want to dwell on it, so I can finally push it away. I look forward to slinging chips and pounding beers post haste!! I will be getting my poker on tomorrow!!! The fishes in my neighborhood will cower with fear!!!
Tomorrow night I'm stacking the deck though, so far my brother is coming to play as well as part-time blogger Todd, also Butch, will be there and possibly Surf, Brain, and Amir.
If any other ATLiens want to come up, let me know and I'll save a spot for ya.
Next week is Okie-Vegas!!! To say I'm excited would be an extreme understatement. I get to meet more of you folks I have virtually met so many times before. Here's who I know will be there:
Surf
Trip
gcox
gracie
maude
jordan
Kat

It will be a damn goot time for sure!

Weekend Wrap-Up and a favor for Otis.
Here's the favor for Otis:
Check out this blog!!! Hairy Gymnast
Not much pokery exitement this weekend, played on Friday night for too long and stacked myself again playing 55 and 33 turbos. I must be destined to be a donk. I'm taking an online break at least until after OKIE-VEGAS
I've got my neighborhood game this Friday if anyone wants to come up to the boonies for some SNG and cash action.
I think I finally have my regulars trained. It took 2 years, but now we play a $20 and $40 SNG, last month the $40 SNG turned into a rebuy for the first 2 levels when I got fucked by a 4 outer on the first hand. I laid into my opponent for a good 10 minutes, and they let me rebuy cause I'm such a crybaby.
I usually do not give the bad plays much mind, since I want that action 99% of the time. But this guy should have known better, and he admitted it was a horrible call. The famous "I thought you were bluffing" excuse. My response "So you call a 'bluff' with nothing but a horrible Q-high gutshot???? GTFO!!!"
Anywho, the pot got up to a juicy $800 bucks and I ended up taking 3rd. So the poker gods repaid me for their insolence.
We also play some version of HE or OH/8 for $1/$2 for the bust outs. To say this game is juicy is an understatement. There is lots of gambling going on, to which Butch can attest.
I spent the rest of the weekend playing with the kids, upset that I missed Kaja's game as the wife was out of town for a wedding.
I'm still planning on doing a Second Annual APBT late August or Early September, once I nail down a weekend and tell (get permission from) the wife. I'll let everyone know.
