Read Jordan's post about blogging. Good stuff.

I'd like to explore peoples reasoning behind starting and keeping a blog.

No time to write now though....damn this working for a living shit.

Late night with 23skidoo

had fun playing high variance poker last night....I made a decision to be a bit loose last night which paid off with mixed results. At 6 handed 100 NL I ran from +150 to -100 over the course of an hour or so of play. Ended up -20. In the meantime I played $6 and $11 45 person turbos (2 of each) I took down 1st and 4th in the $6's, blanked in the 11's.

Then had the bright idea of ending my night with a $20 696 person MTT starting at 11:30.

Good News:
You finished the tournament in 16th place.
A $152.46 award has been credited to your Real Money account.

Bad news:
It was over at 3:19

I made one of my typical bonehead plays near the end. Raised from EP with 66 and BB(semi short stack) pushed. I called and was pummeled by 99.

Tuesday

Had a minor debacle last weekend, so I took a step back, and realized that I had lost a little bit of desire for playing good poker. I've tried to convince myself that this year would be a turning point for me. I feel like I have learned alot over the past 5-6 years and am no longer a losing player. Unfortunately this holds up about 80-90% of the time. I will still put myself at risk in situations that I am behind or bluffing. The recurring problem is that I will occasionally get stuck playing marginal hands and can't call a raise. The opposite reaction being that I play my draw and don't hit.

The major theme is that so often I will get my chips in with the best hand and the suckouts just keep on coming. (At least 3 times in DADI last night) Then I make the same play and get stuck....same old story, I know.
So I took a few days off to try and recapture the fun. I'm gonna be moving back down to smaller limits for 2 reasons.

1) Action...I am an action junkie....I like playing. There is more action at the lower limits and I feel I can outplay a majority of these players.

2) Bankroll Preservation. I've been taking shots at lots of MTT's and missing. I think some cash play will help my hand-to-hand decision making.

The wife isn't home tonight, so I will try to settle myself down around 8:30-9 and get 3 hours in. I vow to take notes and self-analyze as much as possible.

No WWDN tonight makes me sad. It's my favorite night of the week.

Not meant to be..

Change evidently busted Wil last week with a re-suck, therefore gets naming rights... There was a little part of me that wanted it named for last weeks winner...oh well.

So after my lenten obligation was somewhat upheld, I've fallen off the wagon and am drinking tonight. I guess its to build up a reason for not upholding my win from last week.

Good Friday (?)

Tonight is the N'hood card game....$20 SNG's and crazy OH/8 side action....lots of money splashing around....lots of drunken fish. I hope it really is good friday..

Last nite as I was waiting for inspiration to strike, Veneno invited me to a YIM conference. I then remembered it was the final nite of HU3 .
The venue had moved to Stars, so I was compelled to watch and join the little side tourney that Phluxer had set up. Waiting for they touney I played a little 6 handed- 50NL. These are usually fun tables with a good mix of aggressive players and calling statons. Anywho, about 6 hands in I get KK under the gun and make a reasonable raise ~2(no I wasn't taking notes). I get 2 callers and the other 2 kings come on the flop with 2 spades. I hope someone catches something. I check it and it goes around. Another spade. Finally witless victim #1 makes a pot size bet. I think for a second and call. Witless victim #2 calls. The river is a meaningless heart and I check again. #1 makes it $10 to go and I push. He calls and shows the flush....nice. I double up and fly. Thanks goes to WES for the post on Max entry into these games.

So I might have been a little loosey goosey coming into the HU3 side tourney because I gave up alot of chips early. I managed to stick around awhle, up and down. I got the hammer in SB and pushed figuring what the hell. The table was tight as a churchmouse's anus. I get called an two sevens come on the flop...wo0T!! I wish I had gotten a screenshot. So I got to play a bit longer, but went out when my queens got outdrawn by smokeee's KQ. ugh. I went to bed shortly therafter, so I'm not sure who took it down. I'm hoping my homie Weak Player did it for the home team.

Congrats to Willwonka on the HU3 win as well as Fishy McDonk for making it that far.

A night in the park

We strolled in to our seats at the bottom of the 3rd inning. The traffic in this town in unbelievable sometimes. John Thompson had allowed 5 hits and no runs so far, twirling himself a pretty decent game.

There aren't many feelings as good as opening day. New hopes for the upcoming season, watching the progression of young professional ball players. The energy these guys must get from a crowd is intoxicating. Every pitch, every swing turning men into heroes or goats.

The cool April air seems to make a persons gait a little lighter, makes a woman's face glow a little brighter, and causes the beer to taste just a bit sweeter. A night in the park, under the lights with 47,000 friends for just one night. It makes a life, just a little more complete.

In these moments your life seems so simple, so full of purpose. It makes all the bullshit worth it, to spend time with people that you love, enjoying company, laughing.

one of those nights

I can't make myself go to bed. I'm a junkie...... an addict.

Shall I embrace it, or ignore it? Deny it, or roll with it?

I can't stick to my rules. 25 and 50 NL games hold no attraction to me. I get restless... bored....play badly.....If I focus, no problem....but I can only keep it up for awhile. I'm that guy. You can't put your finger on me...am I tight? Am I a maniac? Am I a calling station? nope I'm the guy who yearns for action, a gambler.

And there's a big part of me that is ok with that.

got 14th in a $20-180....2nd in chips my 9's got beat by queens. I could literally taste the final table.... not to be. I played well this weekend, no complaints...got a little tired last night which ate into my profits a bit.....What are you gonna do? I am getting much better at MTT's.....I just wish I had the bankroll to play more of them.

amazing...

How 1 session can change your attitude.

One minute I'm the donkiest donk who ever picked up cards and the next minute I can't believe how many morons actually play cards for money.

I'm really not bipolar...I swear. I'm one of the most grounded, level headed people I know. But when it comes to cards, something bites right into my ego, or psyche, or some other bs name for guts. I get so down on myself...then boom...I realize that I do understand this game (to a certain degree) and I can be successful at it. I should adjust my expectations. maybe stick to lower games.....it just doesn't satisfy the gambler in me. Big wins are what I seek, not grinding away.

I just can't help but to realize that every time I'm feel bad about my game, I just sit at a $25 or $50NL game and make my money back....ugh. I'm gonna stick to those games for one week, and check my results, no MTT's (except WWDN) and no SNG's. We'll see if that pans out. I just get so bored sitting at cash tables...

burn

I think I'm burning out....Its not as much fun as it is a convulsion or like brushing my teeth.
Same old story..hours of focus and hard work blown away by moments of pig headed stupidity. I'm playing NL cash, OH8 cash and tourneys, SNG's MTT's.....and its becoming alot like work. Win here lose there, and I'm bored. The only thing that is fun for me is playing games I don't belong in,
go figure. Am I a gambler, or a poker player? Can I be both?

At the lonely desk, the man sits.
He hears the fans whirring under his feet and he waits.
A miracle of chance, and he sits, unflinching.
Click is the sound of desire, the sound of promise, the sound of hope and disgust.

The silence is deafening.
